I
was feeling overwhelmed by obligations and by all the things I need to do that I
have yet to start – the pressure was eating me alive so I decided to take a
break by seeing my ultimate favourite band LIVE!
Yes,
I realise that taking a break may seem counter-intuitive considering all there
is to do but I needed to gain a better perspective and I did manage to see things clearly after being serenaded by MAYDAY PARADE LIVE OMG THEY WERE
AMAZING I SWEAR!!!
Mayday
Parade has been my favourite for about seven years now and honestly, the never
seem to disappoint. I discovered them way back in 2007 during the good ol’
glorious Myspace days – where you get judged based on how you customize your
profile – and I have to admit that it was love at first listen. *bats
eyelashes*
It
was hard to believe at first when Adam told me they were coming down for a show
in KL. I literally jumped and thought to myself that my spams were finally
heard! I begged my parents to grant me their permission to go for the concert
but they never gave me a solid answer and they didn't seem to understand just how much this band means to me – and boy was it frustrating. I must say that I’m
definitely not a concert go-er and how I don’t really fancy going to one but
this was Mayday Parade. Come on, they are my
only favourite. It would hurt to get very close to something you really
want only to have it slip right through your fingers and I couldn't let that
happen. I honestly couldn't care less missing out on music festivals, other
concerts and whatnot but this was truly an exception.
The
magnitude of desire that I have for this band is just indescribable. Everyone
knows that I am the worst person to be romantic with, how terrible I am with
words and how I suck at expressing my feelings but since I first listened to
their music something just clicked. Mayday Parade’s lyrics put thoughts and
feelings that we all identify with so eloquently and their music has supported
me through all my ups and downs especially during my teenage years.
Anyway, it was seriously the best concert of my life. Not only was the show absolutely amazing, but the band is so fantastic and humbling. Mayday Parade came up next after three local bands and brought the house down. The energy they brought when they came to the stage was just incredible and I love how excellent the interaction they had with the crowd. Derek has the silkiest hair and the sweetest smile – I melted and turned into mush.
Despite
the mosh pits and incredibly sweaty, stinky blokes, the venue was decent and it wasn't overly crowded which was great. Everyone in the stadium belted out the words to every
single song they sung from the beginning to the very end of their rather lenghty set. I couldn't hear anything afterwards but it was
definitely worth it. Mayday Parade is just so much more than a band. Behind the
music, they are such amazing people. So much love for them. Still spazzing hehe.
Three
cheers for my favourite band, great music and awesome company ♥♥
Special
thanks to Hazlan and Zulfadli, my college mates for taking me to see them live.
Also and especially, to Adam for bearing with me and my choice of music.
P.S. Derek promised to come back and he also apologized for taking too long to get here ♥
