"Art is always something to be excited about"

Good evening, lads and lovelies.

It’s pouring outside; the utmost perfect weather for lots of cuddling and snuggling if you ask me. I feel that sometimes the only thing that can “outshine” a beautiful sunny day is a comforting rainy day – take right now for example. Life has been a bit much as of lately and inevitably, exhaustion catches up to me. Well that, and stress.

There are many reasons to why I appreciate rainy days like these. It’s like a free pass to just snuggle up and get all comfortable and warm – an excuse to chill with a cup of hot chocolate with some marshmallows and swoon over the ever so handsome Chace Crawford. Rain is romantic; I love witnessing the heavy rain pouring from the skies, listening to the soothing sound of raindrops falling, smelling the earth and dirt – all so lovely. I just absolutely love the rain.

On to the next point of me writing is that I’ve developed my film shots and the outcome is just crazy wonderful. Mad love for photography and lomography, you can say I’m a film enthusiast; think toy cameras, disposables, films and rolls.

I love shooting film because of its simplicity as well as its flaws. It slows me down, makes me visualize my shot and it excites me every single time I wait for “THE” moment before I press on the shutter. It’s like capturing a moment forever. Film gives me this odd sense of nostalgia because I am emotional like that.

I must say that the whole process is captivating though; from rolling the advance lever, seeing your subject and waiting for the right moment and the thrill itself of taking the picture. There's a mystic to it that I've always loved. Everything is more precious because you’re aware of how fragile it is and how you only have 36 shots on the roll and that’s it. You tend to appreciate everything more and it’s something you don’t quite get with digital.

There's an adventure in every click of the shutter when you shoot with film. I love the unexpected surprises: light leaks, colour fluctuations of expired film, camera quirks. Take it from me, the days in limbo as you wait to see what was on the film and the rediscovery of your photos – oh so insanely exciting! It’s like a guessing game in which I don’t mind doing over and over again. It is utterly thrilling to receive your prints and then find that one or two or sometimes entire roll that just blows you away. Film is just great stuff basically ;-)
