So anyway, I went on a hot
chocolate date with my grandma in Bukit Bintang last night. Initially, we
walked over to Secret Recipe for a cuppa and some sweet treats but I was
incredibly vexed with the staff at the café. They were ignorant to the fact
that I was leading an elderly, so blatantly ignored the both of us when they
saw us struggling with the seating arrangement, choosing to ‘’busy’’ themselves
with paperwork and their phones instead of being courteous. No one approached
us until I made the decision to get out of my seat, walk over to the counter
and ask for their menu. It was only then when they thought it was appropriate
to inform me that they were closed. I looked at them in disbelief and they quickly
looked away. I was so furious, so close to losing my temper I had to take a
step back to refrain myself from throwing the cakes on display in their faces.
God I can’t stand ignorant fools.
I kept my cool instead of telling them off and went to collect my grandma at her seat. I started to worry because she was already getting tired from all the walking earlier. Thankfully, Starbucks Coffee was just nearby because I was so afraid that her feet might swell if she exerts herself. Grandma settled for black tea while I ordered their signature hot chocolate and a muffin for us to share. I learnt that her last trip to Bukit Bintang was twenty-two years ago. She was with my parents and my late grandfather doing some shopping on that trip. My mother was pregnant with me at that time and I listened intently to all of her stories from back then. I teased her saying how she’s pretty hip for a 90 year old to be chilling at Starbucks in BB. She laughed and told me that she practically raised her kids in Kuala Lumpur, so she has had her fair share of living the city life.
She told me that my late grandfather used to take her out dancing and how much she loved strolling around the city, admiring the night lights with him and how she misses him every day. I was so close to bawling my eyes out but grandma started rambling about other things, asking me to bring some of the sugar packets home offering her handbag for storage HAHA so cheeky. She’s diabetic so we have to monitor her sugar intake in case you’re wondering why.
As we were getting ready to leave Starbucks for dinner at Hadramawt with my family, I can’t help but to count my blessings. My problems seem so small when I have so many things to be grateful for. I think it is most important to be content with your life at the end of the day despite whatever hardships you may be facing. Always remember that we are all blessed in so many ways and never lose hope.
Wishing everyone a wonderful weekend ahead ♥
