One can even turn permissible acts such
as sleeping, eating, reading and many others into an act of worship by having
good intentions. For instance, if I do my chores with the intention to keep my
house clean so that my family and I can perform our prayers in a safe and
comfortable environment, then this is a good intention. Islam places great
emphasis on cleanliness and has made it the indispensable condition and I
believe Muslims have extremely high standards of personal hygiene as Islam
insists on it.
“For Allah loves those who turn
to Him constantly and He loves those who keep themselves pure and clean...”
(al-Baqara, 222).
Allah the Exalted gave us girls the
blessing of time, but how exactly do we make full use of this gift? We take advantage
of it in doing things that are pleasing to Him of course. It is permissible in
Islam for a woman on her period to recite Dhikr. Dhikr is the remembrance of
Allah, a form of devotion. Being in the state of ritual impurity should not
stop us from making du’a and reciting our Tasbih
- SubhanAllah, Tahmid - Alhamdulillah
and Takbir - AllahuAkbar. Remember Allah
with much remembrance in whatever that we do.
I always remind myself that I can repent
and ask for Allah’s forgiveness even when I can’t perform my solat by reciting Astaghfirullah. In the
month of Ramadan is when I truly realise that there are so many forms of worship
other than praying and fasting. Listening to the Qur’an and lectures, giving sadaqah generously, doing charity work, reading
beneficial books, learning the purpose of this life and duties towards our
Creator – all of it is worship.
Now is the perfect time to carry out
any righteous deed. Let’s use this time to rebuild and mend any broken
relationships, offer words and acts of compassion, patience, consideration and
love. I try not to use my menstruation as an excuse to my bad temper anymore
hehe. I hope we can all renew our intentions and make sure that we are doing
all these good deeds sincerely for Allah’s sake and following the footsteps of
our beloved prophet Muhammad saw. And if you ever find this post beneficial,
please keep the entire ummah in your du'a – pray for their forgiveness, well-being and
Allah’s mercy upon them.
Have a blessed Ramadan loves!
